The Lockdown Miniatures are a set of 70 miniatures, composed during the COVID-19 Lockdown period in Australia, from March to July 2020. Each set of miniatures (mostly for 2 instruments) comprises 7 short works, designed to be performed as a set but can also be performed individually. They were composed on a daily basis, sometimes reflecting the global impact of Coronavirus and at others, reflecting the personalities of the dedicatees and giving them something to work on whilst in isolation.
Lockdown Miniatures No 3 were composed for Phoebe Russell and Bernardo Alviz, however the premiere performances were by Phoebe Russell and Justin Bullock (while Bernardo is recovering from an injury).
They have been filmed twice for the ABC, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and recorded for an upcoming CD of Paul Dean chamber works.
